Ben Thyer is a graduate student studying igneous processes with emphases in isotope geochemistry and data science. He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2020 with majors in geoscience and music, where he completed a thesis investigating the relationship between plutonism and volcanism at the Mount Princeton Magmatic Complex in Colorado using U/Pb zircon geochronology with Dr. Ryan Mills. In addition to studying igneous processes on earth, he also is interested in studying processes within planetary interiors and in planet formation and evolution. In his free time, Ben enjoys backpacking, road trips, cooking, and playing trombone.
